Programmed have exciting opportunities in the Toowoomba and Warwick Region, QLD for Civil Construction Traineeships specialising in Road Marking, Structures and Road Construction Maintenance commencing late 2025/early 2026.

Throughout the traineeships you will be hosted with a major Civil Construction company, RoadTek, who provide excellent mentoring, training and encourage teamwork and innovation within their business. RoadTek provides transport infrastructure solutions throughout Queensland as a commercial business within the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR).

A Civil Construction Trainee will see you working alongside project supervisors in a range of duties which may include, but not limited to, construction, maintenance and rehabilitation of roads, bridges, highways, culverts and other drainage structures, and airfield pavements. Additionally, you will receive formal and off-the-job training on how to read plans and drawings relevant to your working environment. You will be taught excellent skills from industry leaders who will provide ongoing support and mentoring to give you every opportunity to succeed in the construction industry.

Whilst engaged in these traineeships, you will be required to work outdoors and at times in a challenging environment being hot, dirty and dusty, rotating day/night shift on a roster basis, work at heights and confined spaces. Working in Civil Construction can be a physically demanding industry, so it is essential you can meet these requirements before applying for these positions.

  • Ongoing coaching, mentoring and support to complete a Nationally recognised qualification - Certificate III in Civil Construction – Road Construction Maintenance, Structures or Road Marking
  • Fulltime contract with Annual Leave, Sick Leave and Public Holiday
  • Potential long term career in the Civil industry

Mandatory Requirements

  • OHS Construction White Card essential prior to commencement
  • Demonstrate an understanding of Civil Construction
  • Motivated and willing to learn
  • Reliable and have a positive attitude
  • Drivers Licence and reliable transport
  • General labouring experience an advantage
  • Able to work away on a roster, sometimes in remote areas (accommodation provided)
  • Must be able to commit working night shifts and day shifts on a rotation
  • Able to work away for a roster of 10/5
  • Strong commitment to complete a Traineeship

Other Requirements

  • Passion for ‘hands on work’ and enjoys the outdoors.
  • Competent numeracy & literacy skills
  • Completed year 10 High School Certificate
  • Proven experience in outdoor Labouring desirable
  • Proven experience working within a team environment
  • Commitment to complete theory/written and practical components of the qualification

Location:

The trainees will be required to work across the surrounding Downs South West region and must be willing to work away for periods of time on a roster of 10/4 and day/night shifts.

Prior to any offer of employment a pre-employment medical examination ‘Fit for Work’ is required to determine fitness for work (including passing a drug and alcohol screen).
